towables Buyer’s Guide

If you keep the before points in mind, you can easily go out to the market and buy towables, right? No!

Materials

Nylon is the most commonly used material for towable covers. It typically comes in different weights or thicknesses, commonly referred to as denier. The greater the denier number, the stronger the nylon is going to be. Note here that higher denier numbers will typically be found on more expensive towables or tubes that are designed for multiple riders.

As a guideline, a 420 denier is typically used on less expensive and single rider towable. This denier is lighter, thinner, and should only be considered when purchasing a single-rider towable.

An 840 denier is the heaviest nylon you will find in towables. Deniers at this wei ght are not simply heavier, but they are also stronger and used typically in more expensive, larger towables.

Polyester

Polyester is another commonly used material in towables. Polyester coated with PVC is often used to strengthen Polyester and provide an additional alternative to high denier nylon. 600 denier coated with PVC Vinyl will be as strong as 840 denier nylon.

Polyester is also found in a “solution-dyed” form, most typically on boat lift canopies or awnings, due to its color retention and non-fading properties. Treated polyesters have good durability and resistance to fading from the sun. Note: 600 Denier Treated Polyester is found in place of nylon on and 2-rider towables.

Round Donut

Adults will typically use it as a lay-on-top towable and find it easy to get the tube outside of the wake. Due to its small size and high center of gravity, this shape towable tends to roll over quite easily.

In comparison, children will find this shape somewhat uncomfortable because of the size of the center hole. It is often too small to sit in and too large to lay on for younger children.

Ride-In

Just like deck tubes, ride-in tubes come in a variety of shapes and sizes that allow for anywhere from to riders simultaneously. The term ‘ride-in’ means just that…the rider sits down inside of the towable. Most models have inflated floors or seating areas that provide comfortable, dry areas for the rider.

More expensive ride-in tubes offer neoprene head rests as well as fully nylon-covered sides and floors. Usually riders will be hard-pressed to tip ride-in tubes due to their low center of gravity.

Ride-On

If Ride-in tubes mean that the rider rides inside of the towable, you may be able to guess what a Ride-on tube is, but allow us to explain more about them anyway. Ride-on tubes are available in many shapes and sizes to accommodate up to riders simultaneously. As opposed to sitting down inside of the towable, Ride-on tubes require the rider to sit atop or to straddle the fuselage of torpedo Ride-on tubes, or sitting in a recumbent style tubes.

Torpedo towables are designed for multiple riders and have the least amount of whip of all tubes. They can be somewhat unstable due to their long, narrow shape and high center of gravity.

Recumbent towables come in a D-shape design and provide riders with the thrills of deck tubes while remaining seated upright with head and back areas supported.

Each of these options presents both advantages and disadvantages. Let’s explore the possibility of a manual log splitter first. The most obvious advantage of this type of log splitter is the cost. Due to the fact that there is no power source in play except for your own muscles, you can pick one up quite cheaply.

However, these can be gruelling to use and will often require a considerable amount of strength. It’s certainly not the type of equipment you’ll want for splitting multiple locks in a short period.

Hydraulic log splitters use a hydraulic pump with oil or old fashioned steam, pushing the splitter through the log. Essentially, it operates like an electric axe. Naturally, you’ll need to pay more for this kind of power, and you will typically find that a hydraulic splitter works with a force of to 3tonnes.

If you have a hydraulic splitter, it will ultimately be powered by petrol or electric. Your preference here is going to be determined by a few factors. How noisy do you want it to be? Electric splitters are certainly quieter than a petrol splitter and as such will be more practical if you are working somewhere like your backyard. However, you also need to consider power.

Format Of Log Splitter

Horizontal splitters are far more common than the upright variety. With a horizontal splitter, the log is put on top of the splitter, and it is then pushed with a wedge into the splitter to slice through it.

Unfortunately, due to the design, you might have trouble getting larger logs hoisted up onto this type of device. For that type of heavier log, there’s a vertical splitter. A vertical splitter can be used by pivoting the equipment and then rolling the log into it. As such, no heavy lifting is needed.

Thus a horizontal splitter will be useful for smaller logs but for the bigger brutes of the forest, you will certainly need to consider a vertical splitter. These are ideally suited for industrial purposes in particular.

If you do select a horizontal splitter, you might want to consider getting a dual action log splitter. This is a fantastic time saver because it can split logs in both directions, allowing you to double the amount of logs you can split and load in a set time.

Of course, the disadvantage is that you will have trouble lifting heavier logs and even smaller logs can weigh quite a lot. That said, you can get a horizontal splitter with a hydraulic lift. This means that you can pick up the log and move it onto the splitter without hurting your back.

Customer Feedback

The SPORTSSTUFF 53-221Big super mable Towable have many features that have impressed the customers.

Customers have been happy to see their children use it.

It is equipped with all the safety features due to which the children are not likely to tip over while riding the tube.

It comes in a doughnut shape because of which it is capable of floating along the surface of water quite quickly.

All these along with the features like Kwik Connect and Dual Tow Points make it one of the top inflatable tubes to look at.

Air Pump

AIRHEAD AHP-12H Hi Output Air Pump to inflate the towable.

If it is not inflated properly, it will sag in the water. Saggy inflatables create more drag which slows it down. Also keep in mind that, in summer, the air temperature is always higher than water temperature. If you inflate the tube on land and then float it on water, the air temperature inside it will drop and the air volume will also drop, shrinking it making it saggy. So, try to inflate the towables when in water. Another point to note: it is very difficult to get on a saggy inflatable.

Want a Bigger Towable

SPORTSSTUFF 53-1620 Bandwagon that comes with 60ft tow rope. The rope has a tensile strength of 4,100 lb (1,86kg.), more than enough to pull the towable with adults. Designed for effortless towing, multiple sitting arrangements: sit face to face, backwards, kneeling or lying down. It comes with all features of the model mentioned above plus the additional rider capacity.

This would be my second choice among the list best boat towables, had it not been for the price. But the capacity and the design makes up for the it. It has all the features of the best towables and you will look great riding it.

Handles could be longer for easier use

Searching for a powerful gas powered log splitter that’s compact and won’t break the bank? If so, the Champion 90720 7-Ton Compact Portable Log Splitter may be for you. Featuring a low-profile design, never-flat tires, and a convenient handle, it’s as portable and compact as gas log splitters get. In addition to its portability and compact design, however, the Champion 90720 is also equipped with a proven Champion 80cc engine and an auto-return control valve, providing it with a surprisingly quick 20-second cycle time. This allows you to split up to 180 19-inch logs per hour. It also comes with a two-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

Not ideal for longer logs

The Champion 1002525-Ton Full Beam Towable Log Splitter can just about do it all. Designed for heavy-duty use, it features a 22cc Champion OHV engine, 2tons of force, and an efficient 12-second cycle time, making it capable of splitting large logs with ease. It can also easily switch from horizontal to vertical operation and vice versa to handle a variety of log sizes. When you factor in its dual-log catchers and rugged yet towable design, it’s easily one of the best heavy-duty log splitters for the money you’re going to find anywhere. If you want topnotch splitting performance year in and year out without spending several thousands of dollars, the Champion 10025is definitely worthy of consideration.

Assembly can be difficult for one person

Need a budget-friendly log splitter with pushbutton operation for light seasonal use? The YARDMAX YS0555-Ton Electric Log Splitter may fit the bill. Designed to get the job done without paying too much or requiring much sweat equity, this practical 5-ton electric splitter is an ideal option for light occasional use. The YARDMAX is electric, so it’s quiet and operates with zero emissions as well. That being said, it’s only suitable for logs inches or less in diameter and 20 inches in length. Although larger logs can be split, it may take several passes to do the job of its larger gas counterparts. Operating the YARDMAX also requires two hands, which is good for safety but less than ideal in terms of ease of use. Nonetheless, its lightweight, portable design and surprisingly low price tag make it a solid option for many homeowners.

Would be nice if legs folded for easier storage

The Titan Towable Hydraulic Deluxe 37-Ton Log Splitter w/Log Lift is by far one of the most capable, heavy-duty log splitters being sold today. Not only does it have a massive 420cc engine and a heavy-duty hydraulic system, but also utilizes a fixed blade and 3tons of splitting force to effortlessly cut large logs into four pieces. Talk about getting the job done! The impressive Titan Towable Hydraulic Deluxe also comes with a handy log lift designed to automatically lift thick heavy logs onto the splitting platform, big ports and hoses, and a variety of other great features that make log splitting as easy as can be. If you need to unleash your inner Paul Bunyan and split large logs, this monster of a machine may be the log splitter for you.

Poor assembly instructions

Sometimes bigger isn’t always better, and the Boss Industrial GD16T216-Ton Gasoline Dual-Action Log Splitter is an excellent example of this. While this 6.5-horsepower, 16-ton gas log splitter lacks the punch of some of the other gas splitters in this guide, it splits logs at record pace and allows you to get more done in less time. The Boss Industrial GD16T2is also remarkably easy to use. With one-hand operation, wheels, and a built-in trailer jack, you can wheel it anywhere and split a variety of soft and hardwoods with minimal effort. We don’t condone multi-tasking while splitting logs, but it can be done. If you adhere to the “time is money” credo and don’t have huge hardwoods to cut, it’s hard to go wrong with this impressively efficient splitter.

Heavy beam requires help to lift and assemble

The Goplus 1500W 6-Ton Electric Hydraulic Log Splitter is a great choice for light at-home use. Its six tons of RAM force is capable of splitting most cured softwood logs into 20.4-inch long sections. Plus, it can be adjusted to cut anywhere from 1.inches to 9.inches in diameter. This nifty little electric log splitter is also quite easy to use. It has an efficient design and is made with convenience and portability in mind. That being said, it does require two hands. While this may not be ideal for some, it definitely helps in the safety department. All things considered, if you have smaller logs that need splitting for your home’s fireplace or woodstove, the affordable and efficient electric Goplus will may become your go-to wintertime tool.

Gas Log Splitters

Gas log splitters are the most powerful and offer the best splitting capacity, with many models providing in excess of 20 tons of splitting force. A number of gas log splitters can also be towed using a standard trailer hitch, making them ideal for both personal and commercial use. However, since they’re gas powered, proper ventilation is required for safe use.

Electric Log Splitters

Electric log splitters are less costly than gas-powered models, but they also have less splitting capacity. Although they can be used safely indoors due to their zero emissions. They need to be near an electrical source, limiting their versatility in the field.

Manual Log Splitters

Manual log splitters are more affordable than electric and gas-powered models, but they offer the least amount of splitting capacity. In fact, nearly all model max out at 1tons. Despite having less splitting power, manual log splitters are lightweight, portable, and easy to transport. That being said, they also require more time and effort, making them less than ideal for frequent use.

No Credit Card Required

Having a small car available, for such errands, is the reason why most motorhomes you see tow a vehicle behind them. Many different cars can be towed behind an RV, just make sure that the weight of the car does not exceed the recommended tow weight of the RV.

Two-wheeled dollies, and four-wheeled trailers, are available to tow your vehicle with, but these are very expensive, and rather large pieces of equipment.

Towable Tubes

There are really only a few makers of the best towable water tubes that you will regularly see being praised by adrenalin thrill seekers. These companies make high quality and fun toys that are sure going to make every trip to the lake or the beach an exciting one.

Sportsstuff

The maker of Sportsstuff towable tubes is Kwik Tek Inc.,  a company based in Colorado USA.  There are many different products in the Sportsstuff range. The styles so varied, the designs so good that year after year, more and more people want to get a hold of one of their fun exhilarating water toys.

Keystone RV Bullet

Criteria for Making the List: Choosing the ‘best’ of anything can always lead to debate. However, the top travel trailers weighing under 5,000 pounds listed here, are ones that RV owners voted on with their demand and by popularity. Based on quality, features, floor plan layouts, towability, and options, more people asked about or shopped for these travel trailers than any others.

I did my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Mississippi State University. Now, I am a proud father of a beautiful and sweet daughter. And she loves water and pools. I did a lot of research before buying my first pool about summers ago. Planning for a replacement pool soon. My experience with my first pool made me research further and I gained some knowledge in the process. I thought I should create a web site to share my knowledge. So here it is.

The largest and often the most expensive class, this is the king of RVs. More space, more storage, more slide-outs, more amenities. Also more money, more fuel, more trouble manoeuvring, and more RV to store when not in use. These behemoths can have all the luxuries of home, like heated floors, ice makers and laundry facilities – even a “basement” for extended storage.

Class C Motorhome

The child of a class A and a camper van, this motorhome comes in a variety of lengths and styles. More manoeuvrable than the class A but roomier than the class B, one of the identifying features is a space over the cab for sleeping, entertainment or storage. Being built on a cargo van chassis, they are easier to service than a class A, and the smaller size is a nice compromise between living space and manoeuvrability–and it’s much easier to snag a spot in a crowded campground.

Travel Trailer

The most popular class of trailers, travel trailers come in every imaginable configuration. They range from 9’ to 40’, but the larger you go, the stronger your vehicle needs to be, and the more difficult they are to drive with. Braking, turning, and backing up are all adventures with a trailer – even simply being passed on the highway by a big truck can be nerve-wracking when your trailer starts bucking in the wind tunnel. For versatility however, they can’t be beat.

Fifth Wheel Trailer

Similar to travel trailers, the main difference with a fifth wheel is how it’s towed. Rather than hooking up to a traditional hitch they latch on to a fifth wheel, similar to the kind big rigs use to haul freight trailers, that is installed in the bed of the truck. Having the hitch over the truck bed does two things: it increases the total length, and therefore the amount of living space, and it stabilizes the drive considerably. There is less sway and a lower risk of jack-knifing, making them the safest choice for towing. The raised forward section gives this trailer a homey, split-level feel, but you might spend a bit longer setting up when you reach your site.

Truck Camper

Forget towing altogether and turtle your way into summer adventure with a camper that slides right into your truck’s bed. They’re as easy to drive and store as a camper van, but much more economical since you provide the wheels. Despite the small appearance they can be quite roomy, include both kitchen and bathroom, and may even be equipped with slide-outs. Plus they can go wherever your truck can, making them popular choices for outdoorsmen.

Teardrop Trailer and Motorcycle Trailers

These little two-wheeled trailers are little more than sleeping space, but they are the lightest RVs available, under 1,000 lb. The larger teardrops might have a small galley kitchen and with luck some variety of bathroom facilities. Motorcycle trailers, on the other hand, are hardly larger than the bikes towing them. Some are pop-up style (part camper, part tent) but others are miniature teardrop style with little room for anything but a bed. They might be adorably tiny, but an RV is all about freedom to travel.
